Salus Scott is a multi-purpose brownfield site redevelopment that uses low water and maintenance landscaping, heat recovery ventilation, high efficiency lighting and low VOC finishes. It includes six barrier free units and all occupants control ventilation and lighting. Salus received funding from the Commercial Incentive Building Program (CBIP) for higher energy performance features. One innovation was the use of a high performance air and vapour barrier in the building envelope with “outboard” insulation that was new in affordable housing in the City at that time.
