The original apartment building at KDS Village was built in 1964 as the first non-profit affordable housing development for seniors in Ottawa and continues to operate as such to this day. But with its long-standing title, the structure is due for a major life-cycle renewal. In 2019, KDS completed a 58-unit extension onto their existing 70-unit senior’s residence at 567 Cambridge Street South. This extension was Platinum LEED certified and meeting similar energy efficiency targets for the planned retrofit remains a priority for KDS.
