Originally built as a schoolhouse in the 1930s, 44 Eccles Street is being re-developed into Cornerstone Housing for Women’s fifth supportive housing residence dedicated to women and gender-diverse people. It is funded by the CMHC Rapid Housing Initiative. The project includes 46 studio units, a communal kitchen, shared living spaces, common laundry, outdoor amenity space, and offices for Cornerstone staff. Approximately 30% of the units will be dedicated to Indigenous Peoples. The project began construction in late September 2022.
