As Development Manager at CCOC, I also serve as the president of our sister corporation Cahdco. First created by CCOC in 1996, following the provincial government’s withdrawal from investing in affordable housing, Cahdco works with both CCOC and a variety of other clients to create new and innovative spaces of social benefit here in Ottawa. We were excited to celebrate the re-launch of Cahdco in 2015.
What’s Cahdco been up to?
Our team has been hard at work on a variety of exciting projects with some amazing community partners. We’ve got shovels in the ground at some sites, while we’re just beginning feasibility studies for others. Cahdco supervises development at all stages – building from our team’s collective 50+ years of experience.
Salus Clementine consists of 42 studio apartments to be managed by Salus, who offer a range of supportive housing options for adults with serious mental illness and concurrent challenges. Scheduled to finish construction in July 2016, the project is being built to LEED Canada for Homes certification standards.
Listen to Lisa Kerr, the Executive Director of Salus, discuss the Salus Clementine project:

We’re working with Multifaith Housing Initiative on this 98-unit mixture of town homes and low-rise apartment buildings. The buildings will be united by a ‘grand allée’, connecting all eight buildings in a landscaped promenade blending private and public outdoor spaces.
Located in Barrhaven, this project will house low and moderate income families. We’re looking forward to completing construction in 2017. Development Project Manager Melissa Estable also wrote a blog about the project.
In addition to these two projects in the construction phase, we’re working on a variety of feasibility studies with other community organizations.
One, for Youth Services Bureau, has been undertaken to provide affordable housing and on-site support services to youth. Another, for theOttawa City Union of the International Order of The King’s Daughters and Sons, will explore whether an addition to one of their current properties is possible. This project is expected to provide affordable housing and supports to seniors.
We’re excited about the number of affordable housing projects we’re currently working on, and are looking to grow our team with the addition of a new Project Manager. Development Project Managers are self-starters with strong organizational skills and solid project management experience who are comfortable with complex projects, big numbers and tight deadlines.
